Birds in the litter..........
Some more pics from Onuma last Friday.........
There are always lots of Tits and Nuthatches around........
They were foraging in the leaf litter after the overnight snow had melted...........
This is the local race of Eurasian Nuthatch................
And this is a Varied Tit.............
And these are Marsh Tits...............
This little group of birds has been around since before I started this blog (so over 12 years). Their forebears were extremely tame but now only 1 individual Varied Tit comes to the hand to take seeds. Probably a good thing.
In addition there were 5 species of Woodpecker, Treecreeper, Winter Wren, Hawfinch, Eastern Great and Long-tailed Tits, flocks of Brambling and Dusky Thrush on the move, large rafts of Goosander, plenty of Coot,Whooper Swan, Great Egret, Goshawk and 2 White-tailed Eagles.

A great bunch of "small stuff" - a pity they are getting harder to photograph, but as you say, caution is good for wild birds.
