Before the disaster(s)
Some more photos of the tame Whimbrel from last Sunday, which seems like an awfully long time ago now.............
Hopefully it survived the typhoon and earthquake later in the week............
Some nasty creepy-crawlies live in the seaweed it seems.......
Speaking of typhoons, almost exactly 2 years ago another hit south Hokkaido and it grounded huge flocks of this species. But this year I've only seen this individual so far this autumn.............
Judging by its tameness i'm guessing it's a juvenile bird...................

That's a host of spectacular whimbrel photos. Well done. It's been an interesting few days...
ReplyDeleteIt certainly has. At least our power came back sooner than most. Hope you are OK up there in Sapporo. By the way there is a Spoon-billed Sandpiper near you at the moment. Look on Facebook messenger in a few minutes.
DeleteNice series of shots. Sorry to hear of Hokkaido in the news reports of landslides, etc. Could you feel the 'quake in Hakodate ?
ReplyDeleteYes we certainly could!

ReplyDeleteSeems to be OK now. Thankfully.
DeleteGlad to hear all's well with you Stuart... I guessed you weren't posting this by candle power.
ReplyDeleteOur power came back the following evening which was quite lucky.
DeleteSuper shots Stu. Your extreme weather has made the news here. Glad you are OK.
