My 1000th post
Well it's taken exactly 8 years and 3 months to reach my 1000th post on this blog..................
This drake Shoveler was on a small shady pond nxt to a park in the east of the city................
When I got home I realised a lot of shots were out of focus..................I'd forgotten to change the AF settings back to AI servo. I would never make the cut as a professional photographer.
At least the Shoveler wasn't shy.
There were quite a few birds in the park including a flock of 40 or so Common Crossbill. One came down from the treetops for a drink...............
Also around were 2 male Yellow Throated Bunting, Bullfinch, Brambling, Hawfinch and the usual common resident species like this Eastern Great Tit.
So 1000 posts. I've sat down and done this 1000 times..............................

Congratulation on reaching your 1,00th post and the shots of the Shoveler are fantastic. great o see a Crossbill, I have not seen on for years here.
ReplyDeleteThanks Margaret, I've hardly seen any Crossbills in the UK either...............
DeleteNice shoveler. To me, they always seem in danger of tipping forward ...
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the 1000th post; quite an accomplishment.
Thanks Wilma..............
DeleteCongratulations on your 1,000th post - a really sustained effort. The Shoveler looks great. We all forget settings at times, and I'm sure even pros do at times.
ReplyDeleteI forget settings lots of times though.............
DeleteThank goodness for Lightroom etc then!
Delete1000 ? - great effort. I'm close to 400 myself, but not sure whether to announce anything.
ReplyDeleteThe exposure looks good on the Shoveller, even if some shots were lost to the focus setting.
I had to darken the highlights somewhat in Lightroom though.............
DeleteOnly 600 and something to go John!
ah, Yes, I'd better extract my digit and concentrate...
DeleteCongrats on the milestone Stu, you have posted some great stuff, every credit.
ReplyDeleteThanks Derek..............
DeleteYour shots are a lot better than some so called "pro" stuff IMHO. I've said it before - you have got high standards which probably keeps you shooting and striving for even better shots?
ReplyDeleteThe big problem nowadays is the proliferation of photographers and the age old issue of taste - I hate over processed images but loads of people seem to lap them up.
Anyway, thats enough of an ego boost - looking forward to the next 1000 :)
Thanks for your kind comments...............if I post at the same rate #2000 should come in June 2023 some time.
DeleteA male Northern Shoveler is not a bad subject for a commemorative picture is it?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and comical at the same time..................
