A low key end to 2013
A busy work schedule, nasty cold and some lousy weather meant a very low key end to 2013.
It was snowing heavily today in Onuma, it didn't seem to bother the Ural Owl.
It was wintry today but it was the first non white Xmas I can recall in Hokkaido (ie no snow on the ground in Hakodate). The lake at Onuma is only part frozen.
Not much else of note in Onuma. Long Tailed Rosefinch, White Tailed Eagle and the usual common winter stuff. At Kamiiso ther was a flyover Peregrine and the usual gulls and ducks as well as a couple of Black Necked Grebe in the port.
The cricket was so abjectly pathetic it was almost funny.
And Liverpool begin their descent back to mid table mediocrity..............
Will 2014 be any better? Or even worse?

DeleteForgot to say, Happy New Year, and lots of great birding and photography in 2014. It sounds as if you'd better forget sport!

ReplyDeleteHi Stuart, thanks for the comment. I just hopes it stops snowing soon to allow me to take any pictures.......
DeleteCricket ? What's that ?
ReplyDeleteGreat Ural Owl shots, saw this species in Finland on a tour years ago, but I haven't seen it in Asia.
Yes I will erase the 2013/14 Ashes tour from my mind North Korea style.
