England 2015 #4
Some more birds from the Farnes..............
I wasted too much time trying (and generally failing) to get BIF shots of Puffins and Arctic Terns, I should have spent more time with some of the other equally interesting species.................
Common Guillemots were even more numerous than Puffins...............
It had been ages since I'd had a Shag in England.................
There were smaller numbers of Sandwich Terns but not as close as the Arctics............
And quite a few Razorbill too...........
Kittiwakes are only passage vistors in Japan and are usually not in breeding plumage...........
Other birds on the boat trip included small numbers of Gannet and Fulmar on the sea and a few Eider and Rock Pipit on the islands.
There were some Seals too................
A great place, after a while I gave up trying to photograph anything and just watched all the comings and goings...................hopefully I can go back one day.

I thought it was Farne island you were on. A wonderful place. i think i told you i am off to Great Saltee Island this weekend however there is a bad forcast so here's hoping we get over to the island. Now ALL your images are superb and that is a great close up of the Shag. Gosh i hope I see all these birds on Saltee but my shots will not be as good as yours but never mind.
ReplyDeleteHope the weather holds out for you Margaret.......................
DeleteYou are a master of double entendre. I hope to have this same experience next month.
ReplyDeleteShame there were no Boobies there. I love getting to grips with those...............
