Black Browed Reed Warbler
A Black Browed Reed Warbler at Oshamanbe yesterday..............
This is a very common summer visitor and is abundant in suitable grassy habitats. It's one of my favourite local birds.................
All the common birds of the grasslands were present: 3 species of cuckoo, Long Tailed Rosefinch, various Buntings, Grays Grasshopper Warbler................
It was rather hot though, I concentrated on this individual singing its heart out at the side of the road.
I took a short video of it too...............

ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment Margaret...............
DeleteI always have difficulty identifying European and Asian warblers, at least in part because I see them so infrequently, but this one seems like it wouldn't be as difficult as some.
ReplyDeleteIt is also the only one of its group in Japan......................there are 4 or 5 similar ones in Europe though.
DeleteStunning photography Stuart, really eye popping shots. Lovely bird of course.
