England 2015 #2
A couple of weeks ago we took the boat trip out to the Farnes.....................
The Puffins were very photogenic.
If you've never been to the Farnes let me tell you the birds are extremely close (too close in the case of some of the Arctic Terns!) and not difficult to photograph. The light was very changeable and it was rather windy though..............
It was early in the season and I'm guessing no chicks had been born yet, I was hoping for more pic like this one................
There were thousands and thousands of them...............
I wasted a lot of time trying to get BIF shots and 99% of them were poor, here are some of the few that survived the cull.
I should have given up BIFfing and concentrated more on group shots or just individuals.............
I took a lot more photos of other species, more to follow......................

They look like flying penguins! Great images of perhaps the most personable bird species. With numbers like that, it would have been impossible for me to pick just on which to focus the camera.
ReplyDeleteThey do nideed look a little like penguins..............
DeletePuffins ! - much photographed but irresistible (able?)
ReplyDeleteConsidering how rare Tufted Puffins are in Hokkaido I couldn't resist........................
DeleteHow cool! I wanna go soon and watch the cricket and see birds.
ReplyDeleteHi Russell..................doesthat mean you're going to England this summer?
DeleteGreat shots of the puffins, surely one of the most enigmatically photographable birds in the entire world.
ReplyDeleteI know, shame they are so rare (Tufted Puffins) in Japan...............
