A baby fox.................
We went up Mt Hakodate this morning................
There were a few migrants around: Blue and White Flycatcher, Narcissus Flycatcher and a few thrushes singing in the forest below. There were also several Red Flanked Bluetails, only females though.............
We did see this sleeping baby Red Fox...................
The foot of the mountain and all of the coast were shrouded in fog so we headed west to Asabu and Esashi. No photos but we spent a very pleasant relaxing afternoon by the sea, from the small offshore island we could see a few dolphins, 7 Black Throated Diver and a lone Rhinoceros Auklet. No migrants abour, only a Pale Thrush................

That baby Fox is so sweet.I have never seen one.
ReplyDeleteHi Margaret, foxes are common in Hokkaido and unlike the UK they are not so shy (maybe because theye weren't hunted).
DeleteWow! So cute but so unaware. I hope it stays safe. TGiGW! Do you have holidays?
ReplyDeleteHi Russell, Sunday/Monday are my normal days off but from Tuesday it is the same as normal..............
DeleteIn my experience it's rare that a Red Fox has just one kit (I think that's what they are called). Perhaps this one had siblings and they came top a bad end somehow.
ReplyDeleteThere were apparently 4 in the litter, the other 3 (cubs) were hopefully just hiding somewhere..............
