A mellow autumn day today. I went with a friend into the hills to find Hazel Grouse but all we found were signs warning about bears (and what looked like some bear footprints too). Crested Kingfisher, Grey and Japanese Wagtails ad Brown Dipper were on the river and Japanese Grosbeak were calling from the hillside but no photos.............
The Harlequins have returned to the coast...............these were near Menagawa. As wary as ever and moulting in the shadows..............
Last week was very quiet. A few common migrants were on the river: Arctic Warbler. Red Flanked Bluetail, a cuckoo species, Asian Brown Flycatcher, Coal Tit, Bullheaded Shrike and Siberian Stonechat.
I got a new iphone. Changing from android to ios wasn't quite as big a step as changing from Mac to Windows a couple of years ago but it isn't without its small stresses..............however I did get the Collins Bird Guide and Mark Brazil's Birds of East Asia downloaded, something I couldn't have done on my trusty old Samsung Galaxy.
Hi Stuart. And thanks for spotting the Honey Buzzard. Just shows how often I see them as in zero. Do you see them in Japan?
