Some shots from Monday afternoon in Kamiiso...............
The flock of Black Necked Grebe remains in Kamiiso....................some even swam past when the sun put in a rare appearance.................
Also around were Scaup, Goldeneye, Black Scoter and Japanese Cormorant (in breeding plumage already!). On the beach were 7 species of gull including quite a few Glaucous. This, like the grebe, is a bit of a winter staple but I never get tired of either.
Such white birds are nice when the light is terrible.............
Great! I like gulls - there is a 1st winter Glaucous in Dunbar harbour just now and I haven't seen one for years.

Those gulls sure do get around.............

DeleteWe get Glaucous Gull here but is still a "good" find. White-winged gulls are far from common. We also, very infrequently (once in five years maybe) get a Slaty-backed Gull - and that species is a complete I.D. impossibility for me!

DeleteWe've got a glaucous gull at Fleetwood, I'm hoping to see it sometime soon. Although they all look pretty much the same :P Saw an Iceland gull the other day though, another first.

DeleteI was watching Black necked Grebes in Lanzarote today but couldn't get pics - far too shy.
